Osmington Bay - Day 1

After a long coach journey and a lot of are we there yet! We finally arrived and the sun made an appearance too. We met our groupie Jess and went on a site tour, the children were amazed at all the activities that they would be doing.

We all had a lovely dinner, with a choice of sausages or cod and flapjack for pudding. For this evenings activities we are about to take part giant game of hide and seek.

With an early start tomorrow, we are looking forward to a quiet nights sleep.

Osmington Bay - Day 2

Today at Osmington we did rock climbing which we were split in two groups, group two did climbing first which was slightly difficult and group one did tunnelling in which Clyde really pushed himself . After lunch group two did fencing which was fun, meanwhile group one did zip wire which most of us were slightly scared about but we all did it in the end, apart from Wade but he did go up there to see what it was like.

We all had a fantastic nights sleep and Miss Lancaster even had to wake up a few children. After a lovely breakfast we went off for our first activities of the day which were tunnelling and rock climbing. The tunnelling pushed many of the children out of their comfort zones, Clyde went that extra mile and ended up wet from head to toe! Danni was brilliant at the rock climbing, being resilient and reaching the top. We were really impressed with how well everyone has been working as a team. In the afternoon the activities were fencing and the zip wire. Georgia showed no fear by volunteering to go first and show everybody how it was done, a great role model. Miss Lancaster was very impressed with Mrs Morrison for conquering her fear by going down the zip wire. Everyone enjoyed a dinner of chicken nuggets, chips and salad or beef stroganoff with fruit jelly for pudding. This evening our activities were a variety of sports and a visit to the shop. The children were exhausted by having had such a full day and are all safely tucked in bed. We are thoroughly looking forward to tomorrow, with more sunshine.

Osmington  Bay - Day 3

Greeted by a misty morning, but following another amazing nights sleep, we had a delicious breakfast that included sausages, scrambled egg and beans. Our activities were aeroball and Jacobs Ladder, two things they were really looking forward to. Everyone got to at least rung two or three, with Freya D showing true determination and Ilya overcame his fear of heights, even when the rungs were swinging, and managed to climb to the third rung. Aeroball was exhausting with each team of 2 playing four games, of 3 minutes long, trying to score as many as possible. They all took turns at scoring and time keeping as well as cheering the players on. Then it was lunchtime! Very hungry children enjoyed baguettes with various fillings, salad and fruit. A quick rest in their rooms and then we were off to orienteering and team games for the afternoon, this time they spent all together, in small groups. For orienteering they had to follow a map and collect numbers, and the fastest team was Fritz, Georgia, Churchill and Jessica. Team games were on 'Little 'Wembley' - a range of games including football rounders. For dinner this evening we had a choice of fish cakes or gammon with potatoes and vegetable. Pudding was a delightful peach crumble.

I especially enjoyed Jacob's ladder more than the other activities like AeroBall, I liked Jacob's Ladder since the climb was more of a challenge than the rest of the activities. There were three people on the ladder at the same time, we all had to use teamwork to get up higher steps of the ladder. Even Miss Lancaster and Mrs Morrison got up to the top of Jacob's Ladder. I didn't make it to the top but most people in our group did.

Osmington Bay - Day 4

'I got to the top of the giant swing and screamed my head off' Ollie

'I went kayaking and fell out about three times, it was really fun!' Wade
'My favourite bit was kayaking, we had a wrestling match on the top of the kayak - I was against Georgia.' Freya D
'My favourite thing was the giant swing, it went really high, I was with Danni.' Jessica
'The giant swing was my favourite thing, I loved going from the highest point.' Ilya

Another night of blissful sleep,  both Miss Lancaster and Mrs Morrison were in bed by 10.00pm - that must be a record. Breakfast was spaghetti in tomato sauce, bacon and toast with a cup of tea. Our morning activities were giant swing and survivor. After some trepidation from a few children, they all swung from the highest point. Fritz had one of the loudest screams, as did Churchill they all worked as a team to pull the swing to the top. Survivor involved learning how to make fire using a flint and wood, making a shelter from wood and tarpaulin, learning different skills. Lunch was jacket potatoes with a variety of fillings, salad and fruit. The afternoon was spent at Weymouth sailing club taking part in kayaking and games. The weather was glorious but very windy, so we had to stay close to the shore everyone had a chance to paddle out to a safe distance, Katie was a natural as was Pedro. We then played games, climbing over up-turned kayaks, 'Titanic' Can you get 9 onto one canoe? Everyone had great fun floating about in the sea. Tired children ate a tasty supper of chicken curry, cottage pie, roast potatoes and the best pudding of the week, waffles and toffee sauce. They have all learnt that they can earn bonus points by clearing Mrs Morrison's and Miss Lancaster's trays.
A quick turnaround as it was disco night. All the children changed into their evening clothes, sparkly shoes and lipstick for the girls, shirts and smart hair for the boys. A trip to the shop on the way and the evening was spent listening to music, dancing, eating some sweets and being together. A little later to bed but such an enjoyable day. We look forward to breakfast and a last morning of activities before heading home.
