St Lawrence PTA

St Lawrence PTA is the Parent and Teacher Association here at St. Lawrence School. You and all the other parents and guardians of its pupils are automatically members of our PTA.
 

St Lawrence PTA has three main objectives:

Firstly we aim to raise money to provide extra resources for the children, over and above those funded by the official school budget. The two main fund raising events that we hold on an annual basis are the Christmas Raffle  and Summer Fair. We also arrange regular St Lawrence Cafes, discos and film nights.

The second aim of St Lawrence PTA is to have fun and this is achieved by organising events for both the children and adults to participate in.

The third objective of the PTA is to establish good relations with the class teachers and other staff of the school. Each class has at least one parent representative.

As we are a registered charity have to have a formal committee to help plan and run our events. At the beginning of each academic year we hold the AGM when the positions of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer are elected, along with the representatives for each class, the staff and governors. The committee then meets approximately once every half term to discuss ideas and allocate funds. Because you are all members of he PTA, these meetings are open to any of you wishing to attend and we always welcome new faces and fresh ideas.

Those of you not wishing to take such an active role can still contribute by supporting the events that are organised. After all, the whole point of the PTA is to help our school to help our children.
