Year 6 Science Lesson

On Friday 15th March, Hawthorn Class investigated how sun tunnels work.  Their research showed that sun tunnels can significantly change rooms that do not have access to natural light.  We discussed how light reflects off of the tube sides,  having the net effect of light going around corners to reach dark rooms.   The 'Angle of Incidence' theory was discussed and children learnt that whilst light only travels in straight lines, our experiments showed how light tunnels with bends transfer the light from the source to the destination.  We made our own sun tunnels from a selection of resources and we were thoroughly impressed with our results!
