Implementation

Our broad and ambitious curriculum is delivered through high quality teaching which aspires and engages children through a variety of topics. The topics are informed by children’s interests and work towards our thoughtful aspirations which are taught through a variety of different learning opportunities including whole class, group work and targeted support. There is a balance between both directed and child-initiated learning. The learning environment evolves throughout the year responding to the needs and interests of the children. We aim to build a strong home-school partnership through stay and plays, home visits and regular family times throughout the year.

We provide a wide range of carefully chosen texts to inspire and ignite children’s imaginations and ensures children acquire a wide vocabulary and communicate effectively. Our systematic approach to teaching phonics ensures all children learn to read words and simple sentences accurately by the end of reception. This prepares them to become confident and fluent readers. Staff are knowledgeable about teaching early mathematic allowing the children to have sufficient practice to be confident in using and understanding number.

Impact

Our children develop detailed knowledge and skills across the seven areas of learning. Our children develop their vocabulary and use it across the EYFS curriculum. By the end of Reception the children have the personal, physical and social skills they need to succeed in the next stage of their education. Our children demonstrate their positive attitude to learning through high levels of curiosity, concentration and enjoyment. They listen intently and respond positively to others and each other.
