What a fantastic day we all had at Wellington Country Park! We started the day with a scavenger hunt where we had to look around the environment and collect natural materials. We then had to add them to our own leaf collage and we were very pleased with the results. Next we had a trip on the train where we saw fairy doors, fairy shops, woodland animals and hatching dinosaurs! We had a quick stop at the adventure playground before having our picnic lunches. After lunch we walked to the Enchanted Forest and laid down pebbles that we had decorated with words of encouragement by all the fairy doors. We had to be very quiet so we didn't disturb any fairies. Finally we had a walk to look at all the dinosaurs before having a final rest in the shade and catching our coach home. We were all so incredibly proud of the children's outstanding behaviour. (We even had a compliment from a member of the public.) Thank you Willow Class!
Two ladies, who are Hampshire Music Service teachers, came to visit the children today. They talked about their instruments (a violin and a cello) and encouraged the children to join in with different activities. The children really enjoyed hearing the instruments played live!
We were very honoured to be visited by Mr Marcel Sebahire, the Diocesan Director of Education from the Shyogwe Diocese in Rwanda. He was visiting Mr Jeff Williams (our DDE) and visited some schools while he was over here. He visited Amery Hill in the morning and us in the afternoon. We were really interested to hear about the schools in Rwanda. He was also very keen to hear about our school and how our children learn. Our CW Crusaders spoke to him and then gave him a tour of our school, including the guinea pigs! It was lovely to see how proud they were of their school.
The children at St Lawrence had a real treat when the Brodowski Quartet came to visit. They played two violins, a viola and a cello. They played some fantastic music by Mozart and many other composers. They encouraged the children were very impressed with the children's knowledge of musical terms. We hope they come back soon!
